Partition in India and Britain (PIB) is an Arts and Humanities Research Council-funded project, conducted in partnership with SOAS and the Partition Museum. The primary purpose of this project is twofold: firstly, to meticulously document and gather personal testimonies from British and European individuals who directly experienced the events of 1947. Secondly, the project aims to explore the enduring influence of the empire and partition on extended families and subsequent generations. It endeavours to comprehend the perspectives of individuals whose families resided in ‘British India’ during the twilight of the empire, delving into how they perceive this significant chapter in their ancestral history and its relevance in contemporary times.
