The Impact of Partition on Kapurthala State

The Partition Museum is organising a discussion on the impact of Partition on Kapurthala State with Brigadier H.H. Sukhjit Singh and Cynthia Meera Frederick, authors of the recently published Prince, Patron and Patriarch: Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala published by Roli Books on 16th February 2019 at 6:00 p.m.
The authors will discuss the consequences of the mass exodus of Kapurthala’s Muslim subjects and the exchange of population with Western Punjab, the effects of which still reverberate to this day. Brigadier H.H. Sukhjit Singh will also share his poignant account of events he witnessed during that period. The discussion will be followed by the release of the book.

About the Authors:
Brigadier H.H. Sukhjit Singh is the ninth titular Maharaja of Kapurthala and Cynthia Meera Frederick, the Chief Advisor to the Maharaja of Kapurthala, Cynthia Meera Frederick holds a B.A. in Art History from Wheaton College. She has also worked with museums and private collections in the USA and India.
